An international judo referee, Alexander De Souza has admonished Nigeria Judokas to attend as many tournaments as possible to improve themselves.

De Souza told the aclsports.com that the nations’ Judokas cannot afford to miss several international tournaments in the 2018 calendar.

De Souza who was adjudged best referee at the 2015 All African Games in Congo urged Judokas to participate at the 2017 Loveth Howell National Open Judo Championships from December 13th to 17th in Edo State.

He revealed that Nigeria should have a current team based on current form to be able to excel in various qualifications timetable.

“Nigeria should have a current team based on current form to be able to excel in these qualifications time table. Hence, the 2017 Loveth Howell National Open Judo Championships from December 13th – 17th in Benin City Edo State for Cadets, U-16, junior U-19 both sexes and senior men and women is very important”.

“Judokas should attend as many tournaments as possible to improve themselves. Initially the Commonwealth Judo Championships was to come up in January before it was postponed till later in the year due to Judo Federation of India (JFI) elections”.

“The qualification for the 2018 Youth Olympics starts in January till July. We also have the Africa Youth Games coming up in July 2018 apart from various invitationals, Grand Slam, Grand Prix, Continental Open etc all counting for 2020 Olympics qualifying from 2018 till first quarter 2020”, he added.
