The much anticipated phase 2 of the Prudent Energy Handball League commenced on Wednesday at Rowe Park Sports Centre in Yaba, Lagos.

Both the men and women handball teams played with determination to the delight of the fans who trouped to the sports center to watch the best of handball action.

In the male category, Niger United extended their lead on the Prudent Energy Handball League table as they defeated a determined and motivated Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Shooters side 36-27. While second place team, Safety Shooters consolidated on their second spot narrowly defeating Kano Pillars 25-24.

Other results saw Plateau Vipers and Owena Kings play out a 26 -26 draw while Lagos Seasiders defeated Prison Key Boys 31-19. Bornu Spiders got the better of Sokoto Rima 32-28 while Civil Defense outscored Kada Stars 30-23.

For the women, with Safety Babes throwing away a 3 goal lead to settle for a 21-21 draw with Imo Grasshoppers, Plateau Peacocks are now a point behind the league leaders as they did enough to defeat Owena Queens 36-27.

Kada Queens compounded the woes of Desert Queens who are last on the league standings defeating them 32-15. Also, Seasiders Babes moved level on point with Plateau Peacocks in second with a victory (34-13) over Abia Valianta while Defender Babes earned a narrow but important 17-16 victory over Edo Dynamos.
