Ahead of the second phase of the 2019 Prudent Energy Handball League in Lagos, Yusuf Abdulkadir says defending champions Plateau Peacocks are not under any pressure to defend their crown.

The head coach of Plateau Peacocks told www.aclsports.com that he is aware most team wants to upset Plateau Peacocks adding that his team needs a little bit of luck to hold on to the title in Lagos.

He said the match against Defender Babes tomorrow (Saturday) is going to be a tough one.

Abdulkadir said, “I am not under any pressure but the only thing I know is that it is very easy to get to the top but difficult to stay on top. We are doing everything humanly possible to stay on top because we have worked hard for it and by his grace the girls will excel.

“We are asking for favour from Allah, we are full prepared and have trained for this tournament; what my players need now is a little bit of luck. I am looking at a very serious and competitive match against Defender Babes. As the title holder everybody will like to beat us; we are a team to beat but then we will tell people that it is not easy. We will not relent in our struggle to defender our title.

Abdulkadir popularly known as Kekere said the experienced players who have been attending international tournaments in the past two years will impact positively in the team.

He said, “We are counting on the experience of some of the players who have played far and wide in the past two years playing international tournaments. The young players are strong and tomorrow (Saturday) you will see the kind of Peacocks we are parading and preparing for the future.

“The technical crew have injected some new players from the junior team; we are a developing side and I can assure you that Plateau Peacocks will rule Africa someday”.

Plateau Peacocks is second on the log behind Safety babes at the end of the first phase of the 2019 Prudent Energy Handball League in Abuja.
