The WNBA’s Dallas Wings have signed Nigerian forward Amy Okonkwo to a seven-day hardship contract, www.aclsports.com reports.

Okonkwo arrives in Dallas fresh from captaining Nigeria’s D’Tigress to their fifth consecutive FIBA Women’s AfroBasket title in in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire. She was named Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the tournament for the second straight time, having also won it in 2023.

The 28-year-old’s leadership and standout play were key as Nigeria defeated Mali in the final to extend their continental reign.

Okonkwo will be available for the Wings’ game against the Seattle Storm on Friday, bringing championship experience and international pedigree to the WNBA as Dallas navigates a busy schedule and injury concerns.
