Nigeria’s Izuchukwu Nwaachukwu, who was named Best Blocker of the U21 Men’s Africa Volleyball Nations Cup, has dedicated his award to his teammates.

Nwaachukwu surprisingly beat eight other contestants including DR Congo and Tunisian players to the prize.

But the Nigerian player believes the glory of the award should be shared with his teammates at the just concluded nation’s cup.

“I feel excited because I never expected this. After Nigeria finished fifth, my hope were dashed but surprisingly, the award came as a huge surprise. I am grateful because without them I wouldn’t be here.” Nwaachukwu told aclsports.com.

“I’d like to share this with my teammates, the coaches, technical crew and the board members of the Nigeria Volleyball Federation. I’ll try my best to make sure the team become better as well as remain focus and determined to make Nigeria proud”.

Asked if he’ll honor at invitation to represent Nigeria at the All African Games next year “Without thinking twice, I’ll jump at every opportunity to represent Nigeria at any international championships. And my aim as a young player is to win laurels for Nigeria”.

Nwaachukwu, who said that winning a Nations Cup would mean more to him, admitted that he desperately wants to improve his career with an underage Nations Cup trophy.
