Nigerian international midfielder Ibrahim Olawoyin rounded off the 2024/2025 Turkish Super Lig season with a goalscoring performance for his side Çaykur Rizespor on Saturday, www.aclsports.com reports.
Olawoyin, 27, was on target for Rizespor in their 5-2 drubbing of relegated Hatayspor in their final game of the season decided at the Çaykur Didi Stadium, Rize on Saturday.
Olawoyin’s Nigerian teammate David Akintola gave Rizespor the lead in the 43rd minute when he raced through on goal after receiving a pass from Mithat Pala before sliding past the goalkeeper from close range.
Rizespor’s topscorer Ali Sowe then continued his scoring exploits by doubling Rizespor’s advantage five minutes after the break when he cushioned Casper Hojer’s cross before finishing with aplomb from four yards.
The visitors then halved the deficit in the 68th minute but Rizespor swiftly restored their two-goal advantage four minutes later when substitute Emrecan Bulut headed home Altin Zeqiri’s cross.
Although Hatayspor scored another in the 74th minute, Olawoyin made the points safe for Ilhan Palut’s men when he ghosted into the box to meet Bulut’s pass before producing a difficult near post finish to make it 4-2.
Gambian star Ali Sowe would however have the final say on the game when he netted in stoppage time to wrap up the frenzied evening for his side in stoppage time with his nineteenth goal of the season.
Olawoyin’s goal was his sixth of the season and he ended the campaign with thirteen goals contribution having also recorded seven assists. While his goals tally was two less than the previous season, he has created four more assists than that campaign, making his total goals contribution higher.
Çaykur Rizespor ended the season in ninth place on the log, the same position the modest side finished in the 2023/2024 season but with one point lesser this campaign.
