The duo of Rangers International and Akwa United are back in business at the NPFL 2019 Playoffs after returning to winning ways on Thursday.

In the first match of matchday two, Akwa United once again had to come from behind as they did in their opener on Tuesday.

This time, however, they emerged victorious following a 2-1 win over Ifeanyi Ubah at the Soccer Temple Agege.

The Anambra Warriors found themselves deservedly in front at the break courtesy of a wonderful 33rd-minute strike from just outside the box by Emmanuel Ugwuka.

Inspired by first-half substitute, Cyril Olisemah, who bagged a brace, including a penalty, the Promise Keepers turned the game around to earn their first win of the NPFL19Playoffs.

Rangers survive Lobi scare

The Flying Antelopes bounced back from their opening day defeat to Enyimba to see off Lobi Stars 2-1.

It was not a smooth win for the 2016 winners, as they had to survive a scare from the defending champions.

Two first-half goals from Godwin Aguda and Chiamaka Madu gave Rangers a comfortable 2-0 advantage at the break.

But after the restart, Lobi pulled one back via Alimi Sikiru just before the hour mark.

Thereafter, the coal city boys were made to defend all through as Lobi pushed on for the equaliser which never came as Rangers held on for their first win.

Enyimba, Pillars clash suspended

The final match of the day between Enyimba and Kano Pillars was postponed due to heavy downpour which left the Soccer Temple waterlogged.

The game was still goalless at the break, with the second half now scheduled for 9 am on Friday.

On the log, Akwa United lead with four points followed by Enyimba on three points, same as Rangers but the Aba side stay second based on their superior goal difference.
