Remo Stars head coach Daniel Ogunmodede insists his side are firmly focused on the Nigeria Premier Football League title, www.aclsports.com reports.

Ogunmodede made this known after guiding his side to a comfortable 3-0 win over Niger Tornadoes at the Remo Stars Stadium in Ikenne on Friday.

Skiru Alimi’s first half brace and a second half goal from young defender Ahmed Akinyele secured all three points for the Sky Blue Stars in the match day 32 encounter.

“Our eyes is always on the NPFL title, began Ogunmodede to pressmen after the game.

“Nevertheless, it was a tense game for us because tornadoes have been performing a lot of wonders in the second round. In fairness to them, a sound team and they have improved on all angles,” he added.

“This was not the team we played in the first round in Kaduna. I see the reason why they have gone to away matches to pick points and become threats in people’s home.

The former Crown FC of Ogbomoso handler also spoke about how his side did well to thwart the plans of the visitors in the game.

“Today, we stuck to our plans. We knew they have a lot of heights, we tried to keep the ball on the ground and move the ball very fast. We were able to contain them in the first ten minutes and between 20 and 25 minutes, they were already fagged out.

“We tried to make them run a lot. We were lucky we got two goals along the line. We knew they were going to be slow at the back because of the height. We got two goals in the first half and did consolidate on it in the second half.

“We are happy we won at the end. I’m happy for the boys after the two away games. In six points, we were able to pick one, we were not happy. As a contender, we needed more than what we got in the double away. This time, we got the maximum six points, which is good for us,” Ogunmodede concluded.

Remo Stars, who will face Rivers United in their outstanding game next Sunday, moved to second spot with 53 points pending the outcome of the remaining games of the match day.
