The draw for the 2019/20 Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) season was conducted on Monday night with former MFM FC coach Fidelis Ilechukwu pitted to lead his new side Heartland against his former employers.

The League Management Company (LMC) and Club Owners association held a joint consultative meeting to herald the start of a new season in Abuja on Monday.

During the meeting, the weekend of November 3rd was agreed as the commencement date of the 2019/20 league season which will take a round robin format as against the abridged version of last season.

Apart from MFM’s trip to Heartland, the tie between two former champions Kano Pillars and Rivers United (formerly known as Dolphins) in Kano is expected to be the star match of the round.

Defending champions Enyimba are scheduled to host Nasarawa United but that game is expected to be postponed due to Enyimba’s CAF Confederation Cup outing that weekend, same as Rangers’ fixture at home to Sunshine Stars.

It will be the battle of Delta and Akwa-Ibom states on two fronts on the opening day when newly promoted Warri Wolves face Akwa United in Warri while Delta Force will also engage newly promoted Akwa Starlets in Asaba.
