UCEM Volleyball Club of Enugu targets an immediate return to the Nigeria Volleyball League. UCEM VC captain Manfred Sunday revealed that the club is 100% ready for the 2024 National Division 1 Volleyball League, which commences on October 11th in Abia State.

UCEM is currently 3rd position in the 2024 National Division One Volleyball League.

Sunday, who doubles as the coach told www.aclsports.com that the current squad will put in more effort to win their remaining matches.

He said, “UCEM VC is one of the biggest and most consistent clubs in South East Nigeria. The players know what it takes to play for the club and are ready to make the club proud in the second (final) phase. The management of UCEM has put up machinery to ensure the team succeeds and the ball is in the court of the players to deliver.

“Volleyball is a dynamic sport and full of surprises. I cannot phantom how the team lost scandalously to Oluyole Spikers in the first phase but I am sure that things will be different in the final phase. Umuahia Township stadium is familiar terrain for UCEM and will use it as an advantage. I am using this opportunity to call on supporters of the club based in Abia state to rally around the team when the league serves off.

“Our target is to return to the Nigeria Volleyball Premier League after our sojourn in the National Division 1 League. Our first hurdle is against Oluyole Spikers tomorrow (11th October) and I want to assure you that we will do everything within our power to overcome our opponents”.

He informed www.aclsports.com that the team is intact and there are no additions to the current squad.

Sunday said, “We are keeping faith in the current squad because they understand themselves on and off the court. Out of 8 matches, we won 5 and lost three against Life Camp VC, Oluyole Spikers and NAF Rockets. We are determined not to make the same mistakes this time”.
