Lobi Stars returned to the top of the 2023/24 Nigeria Premier Football League table following a nervy 2-1 win over Shooting Stars in Lafia on Sunday evening, www.aclsports.com reports.

The Pride of Benue hosted the Oluyole Warriors in a top-of-the-table clash – which delivered as expected – as the home side took all three points to go two points clear at the top. Adebayo Waheed opened the scoring for Lobi early in the game before substitute Gideon Monday equalized for 3SC shortly after the break. Orji Kalu then scored from the spot late to secure the win for Lobi Stars.

Injury-hit Sporting Lagos‘ struggles continued on Sunday as they suffered a 1-0 defeat at the hands of Sunshine Stars in Akure. Former Shooting Stars man Moses Omodumueke scored the game’s only goal midway through the first half after some questionable defending from Sporting defenders.

In the second Oriental derby of match day 10, Collins Nwaburuoke’s second-minute strike helped Abia Warriors beat Rangers 1-0 in Umuahia. It was the home side’s eighth consecutive NPFL home win since last season.

Kwara United made light work of Gombe United at the Ilorin Township Stadium courtesy of goals from Alao Mohammed and Abubakar Garba. Meanwhile, Bashir Usman was the match-winner for Niger Tornadoes who defeated Akwa United 1-0 in Kaduna. The result ended a run of five games without a win for the Ikon Allah boys.

In Katsina, Katsina United and Bayelsa United played out a 1-1 draw. Tekena Garando scored for the visitors, while Lukman Bello equalized for the hosts in the second half. It also finished in a stalemate between Kano Pillars and Bendel Insurance in Kano.
