The Nigeria Police Force (NPF), Enugu State command has commenced “intense full-scale” search for Rivers United head coach Stanley Eguma who was abducted on Tuesday, June 15, reports www.aclsports.com
Eguma was reportedly abducted by unknown gunmen at the Enugu/Port Harcourt Expressway on Tuesday afternoon while returning from Gombe, where his side lost 0-2 to Adamawa United in a Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) game on Sunday.
In a statement released by the Command on Wednesday, the state’s Commisioner of Police CP Mohammed Aliyu ordered that no stone should be left unturned in the already launched full-scale investigation to rescue Eguma.
The Commissioner enjoined members of the public with useful information that will assist the Command in the ongoing investigation, to endeavour to provide same by calling the Command’s hotlines on: 08032003702, 08075390883, 08086671202 or 08098880172.
Eguma was reportedly abducted by some unidentifed gunmen, operating in a white-coloured Hilux Van, which trailed and forced the black-coloured Hilux Van conveying the coach and two others from Gombe State to Port-Harcourt to stop at the Enugu/Port Harcourt Expressway.
The assailants were said to have pushed the other two occupants in the vehicle away while they made away with the expensive vehicle which bears a Rivers state government plate number, as well as Eguma.
Other members of staff of Rivers United that were on the trip to Gombe have since arrived in Port Harcourt and continued training ahead of this weekend’s Match Day 28 clash with Katsina United.
