Mexico vs Nigeria: Olawoyin, 24 others called up

Rangers International FC winger Ibrahim Olawoyin tops the list of twenty-five players called up for next months international friendly between Mexico and Nigeria in the United States of America, reports www.aclsports.com

Olawoyin who made a return from a lengthy injury layoff last month has been rewarded for his good form and fitness which has seen him play nine matches within the last five weeks.

He is now in line to win his second cap for the senior national team after his debut in November 2019 against Togo at the Agege Stadium, Lagos.

Also called up in the selection is Enyimba winger Anayo Iwuala who has become the toast of many recently and has already earned four caps for the Super Eagles all in 2021.

Goalkeeper Ikechukwu Ezenwa, defenders Kunle Adeleke and Olisa Ndah, midfielder Tony Msonter Shimaga and in-form striker Charles Atshimene are other prominent names in the list.

The invited players are expected to report at the Serob Legacy Hotel, Wuye,
Abuja on Tuesday, 22nd June with their travel documents. Only 22 of
them will travel to the United States of America for the glamour
friendly.

The match, which kicks off at 7.30pm LA time will be the sixth
confrontation between the senior teams of both countries, four of
which have ended in draws. The only win in the series has gone to
Mexico, when they trumped a US Gold Cup encounter in Dallas (State of
Texas) 2-1 on 24th June 1995.

It is expected that the LA Coliseum, a 77,500 –capacity facility that
has hosted major international championships of all all grades, will
be at full capacity for the friendly match.
