It was another eventful weekend abroad for Nigerian players, with Chinwendu Ihezuo, Joy Omewa, and Edna Imade scoring for their clubs, www.aclsports.com reports.
Chinwendu Ihezuo opened the scoring as Pachuca Femenil defeated Guadalajara Chivas 2–1 in the Liga MX Femenil. The Super Falcons forward netted in the 26th minute before Karia Nieto was sent off for a second yellow card in the 28th. Alicia Cervantes equalised for Chivas, but Charlyn Corral scored the winner in the 76th minute. Ihezuo was substituted at halftime, while compatriot Osinachi Ohale featured in defence.
In Denmark, forward Joy Omewa scored for Fortuna Hjørring in their 2–2 draw against FC Nordsjælland in the Danish A-Liga. The 22-year-old, who recently received her first call-up to the Super Falcons, restored Fortuna’s lead in the 66th minute with a composed finish, just days after marking her 100th appearance for the club with a winning goal in their UEFA Women’s Europa Cup victory over Vorskla Poltava.
Edna Imade scored twice to lead Real Sociedad to a 3–0 victory over Eibar in the Spanish Liga F. She converted a penalty in the 58th minute and added a header in the 73rd, before Claire Lavogez sealed the win late on. Imade’s brace takes her tally to six goals, making her the joint top scorer alongside Barcelona’s Ewa Pajor and Claudia Pina.
Elsewhere in Spain, Levante suffered a 4–0 defeat away to Real Madrid. Kalu Chinyere featured from the bench, while Paulina Ali and Ziporrah Agama were not included in the matchday squad.
In the United States, Deborah Abiodun started and Gift Monday came off the bench as Washington Spirit fell 3–2 to Orlando Pride in the NWSL. Brazilian legend Marta scored the winning penalty for Orlando. Monday was introduced at halftime, while Abiodun was replaced in the 76th minute.
Chioma Okafor weaved past defenders in the second half and set up Se-Hanna Mars for the opener as University of Connecticut (UConn) Huskies secured a 2–0 win over Villanova Wildcats. Six minutes later, Mars scored her second goal after a precise cut-back from Maree-Anne Van Doesburg, sealing the victory for the Huskies.
Super Falcons captain Rasheedat Ajibade and Jennifer Echegini started as PSG Féminine secured a 1–0 win over Strasbourg in France, with Merveille Kanjinga scoring the decisive goal in the 65th minute. Echegini was subbed off in stoppage time, while Ajibade played the full match.
Over in England, Toni Payne came off the bench in the 68th minute as Everton defeated Nottingham Forest on penalties after a 1–1 draw in the Women’s League Cup. Chiamaka Nnadozie was an unused substitute for Brighton & Hove Albion, who cruised to a 3–0 win over Southampton, with Francesca Kirby scoring between a Kiko Seike brace.
Also in the Women’s League Cup, Rofiat Imuran featured for London City Lionesses in their 1–0 loss to Leicester City, making way for Lucia Corrales in the 71st minute.
In Italy, Shukurat Oladipo was an unused substitute in AS Roma’s 3–1 win over Napoli in Serie A Femminile, while Rinsola Babajide remains sidelined through injury.
