She scored 10 goals in 22 matches during the 2023–2024 season, finishing as the league’s top scorer in 2023 and cementing her status as one of its standout performers, drawing interest from scouts across Europe, and eventually earning a move to the Mexico side.

Taiwo’s football journey began with Nigeria’s Robo Queens before she ventured abroad. She has represented Nigeria at youth levels, featuring prominently in the U-17 and U-20 Africa Cup of Nations tournaments in 2022. Most recently, she has been training with the Super Falcons senior national team, a clear indication of her continued rise on the international stage.

Her arrival at Mazatlán Femenil underscores the club’s ambition to compete at the highest level of Liga MX Femenil, a league that continues to raise its competitive standards season after season. Taiwo is expected to bring a dynamic presence to the Cañoneras’ frontline, combining blistering pace, intelligent off-the-ball movement, and clinical finishing.

“Lawal is a player in full evolution,” a club source said. “She adds international experience and attacking flair that will complement our current squad and raise our overall level.”

Mazatlán Femenil has made a bold statement with this signing, as they continue building a squad capable of a breakthrough campaign. With Taiwo leading the line, fans can look forward to a more dangerous and exciting attacking display this season.
