Nigeria U20 women’s national team, the Falconets, were held to a goalless draw by China in their second Group F match of the 2026 FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup on Thursday, www.aclsports.com reports.
Head coach Moses Aduku made three changes to the side that started against Spain, with Victory Lucky, Precious Oscar and Janet Akekoromowei coming in for Favour Nkwocha, Tumininu Adeshina and Folajomi Olabiyi.
Nigeria created some promising openings in the first half, with Janet Akekoromowei looking lively in attack. China also had chances of their own, but neither side could find the breakthrough before the interval.
The Falconets continued to push after the restart, with several attempts on goal before they were awarded a penalty in the 64th minute. However, the decision was overturned following a VAR review, keeping the scores level.
Aduku introduced Ramotalahi Kareem for Oscar in the 74th minute, while Chisom Nwachukwu later replaced Queen Joseph as Nigeria continued to search for a winner. However, the Falconets were unable to find a late breakthrough as the referee brought the game to an end after six minutes of added time.
The result leaves Nigeria in third position with one point from two matches, making their final Group F game against New Caledonia crucial to their hopes of reaching the Round of 16. Spain have already progressed after thrashing New Caledonia 11–0.
