Nigeria is hosting the International Championships not World

The World Para Powerlifting Team on Thursday told www.aclsports.com that Nigeria is hosting the International Para powerlifting competition in Lagos not the World Championships.

President Queen Uboh had informed and we reported here that Nigeria was hosting a World Championship.

In a Twitter Direct Message (DM) sent to our correspondent by the World body, it disclosed that the 2019 World Para Powerlifting Championships will take place in Astana, Kazakhstan.

The statement added that the world body is working with the Nigerian Paralympic Committee and the Nigeria Para Powerlifting Federation to hold an approved international Para powerlifting competition in January 2019.

The statement read, “Hi Dare, hope you’re well. Just to clarify: this is NOT the World Championships. The 2019 World Para Powerlifting Championships will take place in Astana, Kazakhstan, from 29 June to 6 July.”

“World Para Powerlifting is working with the Nigerian Paralympic Committee and the Nigeria Para Powerlifting Federation to hold an approved international Para powerlifting competition in Lagos in January 2019 with athletes from Nigeria and neighbouring countries. Many thanks” World Para Powerlifting Team, the statement ended.

The International Para powerlifting is scheduled for 24th to 31st January, 2018
