Africa Championships: 4 Gold medals for Nigeria Powerlifters

Nigeria Powerlifters have garnered four gold medals on Day one at the ongoing Africa Para Powerlifting Championships in Algiers, Algeria.

2018 Commonwealth gold medallist, Ezuruike Roland won a gold medal in the 54kg class, living up to expectations at the African Championships.

After missing out of the 2016 Rio Paralympics as well as the 2018 Commonwealth Games, Adesokan Yakubu returned with a bang by winning a gold medal in the men’s 49kg class.

Latifat Tijani won the third gold medal for Nigeria in the women’s up to 45kg after defeating Samira Guerioua in front of her home crowd in Algiers.

Three time Commonwealth Champion, Esther Oyema won another gold medal in the Women’s up to 55kg sending a strong signal to the rest of the world ahead of Tokyo 2020 Paralympics Games.

    The para powerlifting of Nigeria always bring fame to this country and what they get in return is hand shake in this Buhari regime.
    The President have to do something cos it is a shame for the able bodied persons to come home with shame and empty handed
