National Youth Games: 132 athletes to represent Kwara State

A total of 132 athletes from Kwara State are to compete at the 7th National Youth Games is slated for Delta state from 20th to 30th September.

Addressing journalists in Ilorin, the Executive Chairman of Kwara State Sports Commission, Bolakale Magaji charged the athletes to be worthy ambassadors of the state.

He said they should do everything to justify the confidence reposed in them by the government and people of Kwara State.

Magaji revealed that the state has recorded huge successes in the history of the National Youth Games; commending the State Governor, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq for creating an enabling environment for sports to thrive.

He explained that the athletes were generally under intensive training for more than two months before the postponement which gave them another opportunity and time to prepare.

He said, “Kwara state is presenting a total number of 132 athletes in 18 sports. The players were camped for two months before the Games were shifted to the current date. I want to thank the Governor for sustaining an enabling environment through the prompt release of funds and improving infrastructural development.

Kwara state contingent comprising of athletes, coaches, secretaries, helpers, interpreters as well as medical personnel depart Ilorin for Asaba on Wednesday.

Kwara came 7th at the 2021 National Youth Games held in Ilorin.
