ACLSports’ Chief Correspondent to the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, Mary Akinsola is set to be confirmed as the new Media Officer of Nigeria’s senior women’s national team, the Super Falcons.

Akinsola, a cerebral and very passionate sport enthusiast boasts of more than a decade experience in Sports media, communication and public relations and just last year returned to Nigeria after completing her Masters in International Sports Journalism at the St Mary’s University, London.

Africa’s most successful women’s national team, the Super Falcons have been without a substantive media head since the end of the Paris 2024 Olympics last year which marked the end of a four-year reign of Ms Oluchi Tobe-Chukwu.

Akinsola’s work experience as a media personnel cut across broadcast journalism and digital media with the pinnacle being as Production Communications Manager at Eurosport after having previously worked at the Broadcasting Corporation of Oyo State (BCOS), Ibadan and Sports Gazette in the United Kingdom as an Editor.

With ACLSports.com, Akinsola was the anchor of our ‘YourSportsMemo’ Podcast several times aside being our Bureau Chief for the extensive and successful coverage of the 2022 Commonwealth Games.

Akinsola will join up with the Super Falcons squad in her new role as their Media Officer in Morocco this week ahead of their campaign at the 2025 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations where they will be hoping to land their 10th African title.

We wish her and the team the very best.
