Powerlifting: I am ready for the Int’l Championship – Okpala

African champion Ebere Okpala has declared her readiness for the 2019 International Para Powerlifting Championships in Lagos.

Okpala told www.aclsports.com that the coaches and the technical crew have been taking them through various training programs different from the past.

She said, “My preparation is going on smoothly and I am giving all it takes to remain at the top. I know it is not going to be easy but God is in control.

“I made my debut into the national team by winning gold at the 2018 Africa Para Powerlifting Championships in Algeria. I want to maintain the standard”.

Okpala who hails from Ekwulobia Local Government Area in Anambra state said her best is yet to come.

“After winning my category at the National Sports Festival, I knew all I had to do was to train more and more. This will be my second international championship since I joined the national team.

Since the event is happening on my home soil, I promise to do my best to do more and surpass my previous record”.

The International Para Powerlifting Championships is scheduled for 24th to 31st January, 2018.
