Liverpool forward, Sadio Mane has offered an apology to Man City goalkeeper, Ederson, who was left hurt by the Senegalese’s high boot during their match at the Etihad on Saturday.

The 23-year-old challenged for a loose ball with the Brazilian, who used his head to clear the ball to safety only to be caught on the face by Mane’s studs.

He was subsequently sent off by referee, Jon Moss, with his side already behind courtesy of a Kun Aguero opener.

But while he faces a three-match ban for his troubles, Mane took to his social media account to issue an apology to Ederson.

“I hope and wish Ederson a quick recovery,” Mane posted on his Facebook page.

“I am so sorry he was hurt during our accidental collision on the pitch and am sorry for him that he could not complete the match because of it.

” I pray he heals fast and is back playing very soon,” he added.

Ederson, who really looked hurt by the incident after he was stretched off the pitch, was replaced by Claudio Bravo, has since allayed fears of a serious injury as he confirmed that he’s okay.

“Hi, everyone – I am well. What a fright! It was an important win for us. We are strong. Thanks for all your messages of support,” Ederson tweeted.

Mane will miss Liverpool’s next three domestic matches against Burnley, and the two against Leicester in the Carabao cup and the Premier League.
