Argentina stars Julián Álvarez and Alexis Mac Allister have opened up on their admiration for legend Lionel Messi, admitting the Argentine captain continues to leave them speechless with his performances, www.aclsports.com reports.

After Argentina national football team’s 2-0 win over Austria national football team in Group J at Dallas Stadium, both Julián Álvarez and Alexis Mac Allister could only laugh and shake their heads in disbelief — a familiar reaction to the genius of Lionel Messi, whose brilliance continues to amaze even those closest to him.

How did Messi end up scoring in that attack? His unselfish play ended up earning him one big chance created and another goal to extend the World Cup record.

He is no longer a FIFA boy, but God-boy then.

Messi continued to smash FIFA World Cup records on Monday, setting the all-time record for goals in the global finals with 18 with his brace, while equalling Just Fontaine’s feat of a goal in six successive matches.

“There are no words to describe what he does,” said the Liverpool midfielder. “Obviously, he’s small, but whenever you watch him, it’s a dream. And today, being able to experience it first-hand, I’m really enjoying it.

“The other day, I heard my dad say that it’s one thing to watch him from the stands, and another to watch him on TV. And I’d say it’s something else entirely to watch him out on the field, right there with the rest of them. The things he does are simply incredible. The way he reacts at the last moment to whatever’s happening. So, anyway, I’m just happy that he’s able to enjoy himself and score goals.”

“I don’t even know what to say. It’s impressive,” said Alvarez in his own praise for the former Barcelona star. “Honestly, there aren’t many more words to add. We see it every day, so many years showing off his magic, his talent. He’s the greatest of all time and we just try to enjoy him every time.”

Argentina, having booked their place in the round of 32, will now face Jordan in their final group game on Sunday.
