Super Eagles winger Moses Simon’s match-winning goal led Paris FC to a 1-0 win over in-form Monaco in the French Ligue 1 on Saturday, www.aclsports.com reports.

Simon, who made the switch to Paris FC in the summer, has been one of the shining lights for the newly promoted side this season, and he proved his worth once again in the principality as Paris ended Monaco’s six-match unbeaten run (W2, D4).

Monaco have been excellent in recent weeks, and they were looking for another win to keep pace with Paris Saint-Germain. Les Monégasques started the game strongly, went close after just 14 minutes when Aleksandr Golovin sent an effort wide of the left post.

Despite the early pressure, Paris FC kept their cool, and were doing their best to keep the hosts at bay but when Jean-Philippe Krasso rattled the post with his left-footed strike just after the half-hour mark, Paris signaled their attacking intents.

However, despite being in control, Monaco were made to regret their missed chances with 53 minutes played, as Moses Simon gave Paris the lead by placing Maxime Lopez’s cutback into the roof of the net from the center of the penalty area. Paris FC held on for their first win in four games.

The capital club moved up to 10th in the Ligue 1 standings with the win. Meanwhile, Monaco lost ground in the title race, with PSG now four points ahead of Les Monégasques.

Moses Simon, who provided two assists in last month’s emphatic win for Nigeria over Benin, has now racked up three goals and two assists from 11 league appearances for Paris FC this season.
