The head coach of Owena Queens, Tommy Olalude said his team capitalised on the defensive lapses of the Seasiders Babes at the Prudent Energy Handball League in Lagos.

Owena Queens beat Seasiders Babes 29-24 in the female opening match of day 2.

He told aclsports.com that the approach of the girls during the game was to cause a major upset to the Lagos based team.

“The spirit in those girls was very high. I told them that they should play what they know best and I thank God that they were determined. I observed that the Seasiders Babes retrieval to defence was too slow, so I said they should mount more offence and that was how we scored cheap goals”, he revealed.

Olalude said the technical crew of the Ondo based team has done research about other teams at the League.

“By his grace, we have concluded our research on the other teams, watched them live and the lord will teach us how to play, the techniques, strategies and pattern to outplay them”, he said.

He commended Sam Ocheho for reviving handball in Nigeria through the resumption of the league after a long time.

“We want to say thank you to prudent Energy, the President of Handball Federation of Nigeria, Samuel Ocheho for bringing back the lost glory of Handball in Nigeria”, he ended.
