Former Rivers United defender Kazie Enyinnaya scored a stunning goal for Stellenbosch in their 3-1 home win against Sekhukhune United in the South African Premier League on Friday, www.aclsports.com reports.

Enyinnaya, 26, joined the Stellies in 2024 and went ahead to put his side ahead after a strong run in the 24th minute before Genino Palace doubled the advantage in the 39th minute.

Bright Ndlovu then halved the deficit after the break, only for Chumani Butsaka to finish brilliantly with a clinical left-footed strike to make it 3-1 to the hosts. In the end, they secured all three points and moved to ninth on the log with 31 points and six matches to go.

“It was a hell of a game, a bit end-to-end stuff. It was a bit too open for me,” Stellenbosch head coach Gavin Hunt said after the contest.

“I thought there was no control in the game from both teams. They could have got one or two more goals, and then I thought we started the second half well and had the three, four big chances, but we didn’t score,” he added.

It was the first goal of the season for Enyinnaya, who made his 19th league appearance of the season. It was also his second goal involvement in his last three league games after creating a goal in the win over Chippa United in mid-March.

Meanwhile, former Orlando Pirates defender Olisa Ndah also featured for Stellenbosch for the entire duration of the game, which was played at the Athlone Stadium in Cape Town.
