Rivers Hoopers moved closer to the 2026 Nigeria Premier Basketball League (NPBL) title after defeating Gboko City Chiefs in the Final 4 playoffs on Monday, www.aclsports.com reports.
Hosts Rivers Hoopers secured an 88-76 victory over Gboko City Chiefs at the Basketball Stadium in Port Harcourt on Game Day 3 to remain the only unbeaten team heading into the final day of the competition.
Omar Abada led the Kings Men with 18 points, three assists and four three-pointers, while Peter Olisemeka added 14 points, 12 rebounds and five assists. Abel Offia also contributed 14 points, six rebounds and four three-pointers. Marcus Thomas Jr was Gboko City Chiefs’ leading performer with 27 points and six assists.
Aso Skyhawks earned their first win of the Final 4 after overcoming defending champions Maktown Flyers 72-64, handing them their second straight defeat and ending their hopes of retaining the title.
Paul Dibal led Skyhawks with 19 points, eight rebounds and four steals, while Adekoya Jawad finished with 15 points, three rebounds and four three-pointers for Maktown. Franklin Agunanwe added 11 points, 11 rebounds and two steals.
The Final 4 concludes on Tuesday, with Aso Skyhawks facing Gboko City Chiefs before Rivers Hoopers take on Maktown Flyers.
