Nigeria U17 women’s national team, the Flamingos, edged Burkina Faso 2-0 to maintain their perfect start to the 2026 WAFU-B U17 Girls Cup on Monday, www.aclsports.com reports.
The Flamingos struck twice late in the game at Lycée Scientifique, Yamoussoukro, to secure maximum points after Burkina Faso had kept them at bay for much of the encounter.
Nigeria created chances and pressed for an opener in the first half, but Burkina Faso’s resilient defence held firm to send both sides into the break level.
Mary Dunstan broke the deadlock in the 82nd minute with a neat curling finish after substitute Kaosarat Akanji picked her out, taking her tally to three goals in the tournament. A defence-splitting pass then released Oluwakemi Adegbuyi, who rounded the goalkeeper before slotting home in the fourth minute of added time to seal the win.
The result leaves Nigeria top of the table with nine points from three matches. The Flamingos will next face hosts Côte d’Ivoire on September 24 before concluding their league campaign against Togo on September 27.
