Super Eagles of Nigeria began training on Tuesday for Friday’s 2027 AFCON qualifier against Madagascar’s Barea in Uyo, www.aclsports.com reports.
Team head coach Eric Chelle, assisted by the fitness trainer Tomaž Zorec, led out the players for a light training session at the training pitch of the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo on Tuesday evening.
It is the first time that the group will be together in Uyo since the dramatic thrashing of Benin Republic in 2025. Among the early birds to camp were Moses Uzor, George Ilenikhena, Arthur Okonkwo, Alex Iwobi, Semi Ajayi, Calvin Bassey and the returning Ola Aina.
Goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali arrived just before the team left their hotel base in Ikot Ekpene for this evening’s first session. Meanwhile, skipper Wilfred Ndidi and in-form Samuel Chukwueze also joined the team at the training ground as the latest arrivals to camp. Only goalkeeper Maduka Okoye is still expected in camp at the time of filing this report.
The Super Eagles host Madagascar’s Barea at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium, Uyo, on Friday, 25th September, before flying to Bissau to take on the Wild Dogs in a Matchday 2 encounter on Tuesday, 29th September.
