French side Basket Landes, have confirmed the signing of Nigerian centre Murjanatu Musa on a one-year deal ahead of the 2025–26 season, www.aclsports.com reports.

The 25-year-old arrives from Tarbes Gespe Bigorre and was most recently with the Phoenix Mercury in the WNBA.

She made her biggest impact in Tarbes colours, delivering standout performances, including multiple games with over 16 rebounds and/or 20 points, in both the Euro Cup Women and La Boulangère Wonderligue, where she earned a place in the season’s starting five.

Known for her relentless energy, rebounding strength, and defensive intensity, Musa is expected to reinforce Basket Landes’ interior play as the club aims to build on last season’s campaign.

“We are happy to welcome Murjanatu,” the club said in a statement. “She will strengthen the team’s interior presence and bring her full energy on both ends of the court. Her athletic profile and personal qualities are a perfect fit for Julie Barennes’ team identity.”

Her move follows another successful outing with Nigeria’s women’s national team, D’Tigress, at the 2025 FIBA Women’s AfroBasket in Abidjan, where she helped secure a fifth consecutive continental title and a ticket to the 2026 FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup.

Named in head coach Rena Wakama’s final 12-player roster, Musa opened the tournament with 12 points and 5 rebounds against Rwanda, before posting a dominant double-double, 12 points, 12 rebounds, 3 assists, and 5 steals, to propel Nigeria past Mozambique into the quarter-finals. She finished the tournament averaging 7.8 points, 7.8 rebounds, and 1.2 assists per game, according to FIBA statistics.

Basket Landes will be counting on her experience, physicality, and competitive spirit in their pursuit of domestic honours and success on the continental stage.
