The current Athletes Representative on the board of Athletics Federation of Nigeria, Sunday Adeleye is set to resign his position as Technical Director, www.aclsports.com gathered.

The Extraordinary General Congress of the Athletics Federation of Nigeria (AFN) will hold on 4th December, 2019 in Akwa, Anambra state.

Multiple sources informed www.aclsports.com that the decision was made by Sunday Adeleye after the continuous interference and pressure mounted on the President of Athletics Federation of Nigeria, Ibrahim Gusau.

A source (name withheld) said Sunday Adeleye wants to take the step in order to douse the level of tension in the athletics circle adding that the resignation of former AFN President, Solomon Ogba was a landmark decision.

Another source revealed that most Athletics Association chairmen are not happy with the negative news in circulation about the AFN.

“If you read newspapers or open the internet, you will discover that there is no week the AFN is not in the news for the wrong reason. The other faction are fighting hard to get the attention of the minister of sports, Sunday Dare and putting other board members in bad light.

“I have been informed that the Athletes Representative will resign at the congress on Wednesday; this is not a good development at all because the former AFN president, Solomon Ogba just resigned citing interference”, the source said.

It will be recalled that the Chairman of the Delta State Athletics Association, Evangelist Solomon Ogba resigned from the present board of Athletics Federation of Nigeria (AFN) for what he described as “continuous interference in their activities”.
