Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) of Ibadan have announced Nurudeen Aweroro as their new head coach ahead of the upcoming NPFL season, www.aclsports.com reports. The decision was confirmed by the club’s management on Friday as they move to restructure their technical team.

Aweroro, who led Ikorodu City to a fourth-place finish last term, replaces veteran tactician Gbenga Ogunbote, whose contract was terminated following a management overhaul at the Ibadan-based club. Ogunbote, fondly called ‘Oracle,’ had guided the team through a mixed campaign last season but failed to meet the new board’s expectations.

A source revealed to ACLSports that Aweroro has been handed a one-year deal, with an option for renewal based on his performance at the end of the season. His immediate task will be to stabilise the team, strengthen their tactical discipline, and push for a stronger finish in the league.

Aweroro is simply known for his modern coaching approach and youth development expertise, traits Shooting Stars are keen to leverage as they target continental qualification and long-term squad rebuilding. His appointment reflects the club’s ambition to reclaim its position as one of Nigeria’s elite teams.

Meanwhile, Shooting Stars are expected to announce a new Sporting Director in the coming hours as part of their broader management restructuring.

Aweroro took part in training with his new side on Friday evening, and supporters will be eager to see him build a squad capable of competing when the 2025/26 NPFL season kicks off next month.
