Ogenyi returns to the Sai Masu Gida after previously guiding them back to the top flight from the Nigeria National League in 2023. His appointment was confirmed via the club’s official social media platforms on Thursday morning.

“We are pleased to announce that Kano Pillars FC has reached an agreement to appoint Mr. Ogenyi Evans as our new Technical Adviser ahead of the 2025/2026 football season. He will assume duties with immediate effect. Details of his contract will be communicated in due course,” the club’s statement read.

The experienced tactician replaces Usman Abdallah, who stepped down from the role in June due to personal reasons.

Ogenyi most recently worked with Rivers United, where he joined the coaching team for the 2023-24 NPFL season before his contract expired in June.

A holder of the CAF License A, CAF Intermediate Coaching Certificate, and FIFA High-Level Coaching Certificate, Ogenyi brings decades of experience to the Kano club. His coaching portfolio includes stints as Chief Coach and Technical Adviser at Enyimba International, Rivers United, and Nasarawa United, with successes spanning the NPFL, CAF Champions League, and Federation Cup.

Ogenyi’s primary task will be to restore Kano Pillars to title contention after their ninth-place finish last season.
