Former Africa queen of track, Blessing Okagbare-Ighoteguonor finished third in a time of 11.07 seconds in the IAAF Diamond League Women’s 100 meters final in Brussels.

The final 16 IAAF Diamond League champions of the season took place at the King Baudouin Stadium in Brussels on Friday.

It was the second of the two 2017 IAAF Diamond League finals while the first took place a week ago in Zurich.

The Commonwealth gold medalist, finished behind Jamaica’s Elaine Thompson, who came through to retain her Diamond Trophy from 2016 in 10.92 seconds while Ivorian Marie-Josée Ta Lou ran 10.93 seconds in second place.

Okagbare failed to beat or match her 10.99 seconds at the Diamond League meeting in London in July.

The Olympic medallist finished third in all three performances in Diamond League season in Paris, London and Brussels.

Meanwhile, Thompson shook off her fifth place in London and second place in the Zurich Diamond League 200m final behind Shaunae Miller-Uibo in a time of 22.00 seconds to retain her 100m title in Brussels.

The overall Diamond Trophy in each event is accompanied with US$50,000 winner’s cheque.
