Adesokan, Krobapor climb in latest world rankings

The duo of Dorcas Adesokan of Ogun State and Clement Krobapor of the NSCDC moved up in the latest world rankings released by the Badminton World Federation.

In the women’s category, two Nigerians made the top 10 in Africa with Dorcas Adesokan retaining her crown as Africa’s best female player. Adesokan moved up two places from 108th position in the world to 106th with 13,904 points while Hadia Hosny of Egypt is second in Africa in 119th position and Uganda’s Aisha Nakiyemba in 123rd position and third in Africa. Menna Eltanany of Egypt, 153rd in the world and Nigeria’s Grace Gabriel are fourth and fifth respectively in Africa.

In the men’s category, Clément Krobapor of the NSCDC retained his third position in Africa despite moving up three places in the latest world rankings. Krobapor is now ranked 207th in the world behind Adham Hatem Elgamal who is second in Africa and 155th in the world while Egyptian’s Ahmed Salah is 153rd in the world and first in Africa.

On sixth place is Nigeria’s Habeeb Bello, 266th in the world and Lagos State Badminton player, Anuoluwapo Juwon Opeyori is 9th in Africa, 288th in the world both made the top 10.
