Wrestling: Egypt, South Africa, 7 others hit Nigeria for African Championships

Participating Wrestlers from nine different countries including Egypt and South Africa have arrived Nigeria for this week’s Africa Wrestling Championships, aclsports.com gathered.

The Technical Director of the Nigeria Wrestling Federation, Damian Ohaike  confirmed the arrival of the nine countries for the five day event scheduled to hold from February 7th to 11th in Port Harcourt.

According to him, countries are; Egypt, Algeria, Morocco Tunisia, aLiberia, Namibia, South Africa, Burundi and Kenya.

Damian also said the President United World Wrestling (UWW) Africa, Fouad Meskout inspected the Alfred Diete-Spiff Civic Centre – venue of the 2018 Africa Wrestling Championships.

“Everything is going as expected and the opening ceremony of the championships is scheduled for February 7th, 2018. Before the ceremony, am sure most of the teams must have arrived”, Damian said.

Meanwhile, South Africa coach, Gussie Bartlett said the team is settling down and will commence light training on Tuesday at the wrestling arena.
