
Super Eagles head coach, Eric Chelle, has listed Galatasaray striker Victor Osimhen and 23 others in his squad for next week’s World Cup playoffs in Morocco, www.aclsports.com reports.
Osimhen, who scored a hattrick to help Nigeria book their place in the playoffs, has been in hot form since then, and he’s expected to lead the line for the team.
Team captain William Troost-Ekong, first-choice goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali, Calvin Bassey, midfielders Alex Iwobi and Wilfred Ndidi, were also called up to the squad.
Goalkeeper Maduka Okoye makes a return to the squad after his ban. Winger Chidera Ejuke also returns to the squad for the first time since October 2024. Right-back Bright Osayi-Samuel is also back in after missing the October window.
Young defender Benjamin Frederick rearguard and defender Chidozie Awaziem are also part of the group for the playoffs in Morocco.
The Super Eagles of Nigeria will battle Gabon in the African Qualifiers of the FIFA World Cup 2026 Inter-Continental Play-off tournament in Rabat, Morocco next week Thursday. Cameroon and DR Congo will face off in the other semifinal game.
The winners will then clash in a final that will be played on Sunday, 16 November 2025, at Prince Héritier Moulay El Hassan at 20:00 local time (Nigerian time).
