Six-time African Player of the Year Asisat Oshoala, scored and provided an assist as Al-Hilal secured a comeback 2–1 win over Al-Qadsiah in the first leg of their Saudi Women’s Cup semi-final on Thursday, www.aclsports.com reports.
Oshoala, 31, inspired the turnaround, converting from the penalty spot in the 67th minute to restore parity before turning provider 11 minutes later, setting up Jéssica Silva, who finished neatly to complete the comeback.
Al-Qadsiah had taken the lead in the 14th minute after Nouf Saud inadvertently turned the ball into her own net, giving Al-Hilal an early setback in Riyadh.
Oshoala’s equaliser shifted momentum firmly in Al-Hilal’s favour, and her creativity proved decisive as she assisted Silva for the winning goal shortly after.
The performance underlines Oshoala’s strong form, coming on the back of her recent brace and assist in her previous outing. She has now registered 20 goals and six assists across all competitions this season.
Al-Hilal will take a slender advantage into the second leg scheduled for 7 May as they aim to secure a place in the final.
In the other semi-final, newly crowned Saudi Women’s Premier League champions Al Nassr Women edged Al-Ula 2–1 to seize control of their tie ahead of the return leg.
