The Chipolopolo of Zambia will have it all to fight for against the Super Eagles of Nigeria when they come visiting on October 7th, in a bid to keep their world cup hopes alive.

After a poor start to their world cup qualifying campaign losing 1-2 to Nigeria, the Zambians have picked up some impressive results; like getting a point against Cameroon away in Yaounde, defeating Algeria 3-1 with 10 men and the latest being the 0-1 away win over Algeria in Algiers courtesy of a Patson Daka goal in the 67th min.

Just like the draw between Nigeria and Cameroon ended any hope of qualification for the African Champions, the Zambian win in Algiers dumped out the start studded North African side from the Mundial in Russia next year.

However, on October 7th, the soaring Super Eagles of Nigeria and the Chipolopolo of Zambia will face off in the most important game of the group B.  With Zambia on 7 points and +2 goal difference and Nigeria on 10 points with a +7 goal difference, the fixture in Nigeria next month is a must win for Zambia who ended their qualifying campaign at home to Cameroon. Nigeria on the other hand would be hoping to get the needed 2 points to seal qualification by avoiding a defeat to Zambia who have picked up 4 points on the road and away to Algeria who have nothing to fight for.

However this pans out, the Nigeria vs Zambia fixture would hugely influence who gets the only world cup slot available in group B of the African qualifiers.
