NPFL side Sporting Lagos have handed promotion to Academy youngster Fuhad Ojediran ahead of the 2026/27 NPFL season, www.aclsports.com reports.
Ojediran, who has been with the Academy since 2024, has developed significantly, and the club has decided to promote him ahead of the new campaign.
”We’re happy to announce that Fuhad Ojediran has been promoted to the first team, following his development at the Sporting Lagos Football Academy since 2024. Fuhad is a skillful center forward who can create chances out of nothing, as shown in many of his goals over the past two seasons in the TCC and NLO,” the Lagos club said in a statement on Saturday.
”I’m so proud. My aim is to make my debut with the first team and give my best whenever I have the opportunity,” Ojediran said in his reaction to the promotion.
Across four competitions last season- the TCC League, TCC Cup, NLO, and Lagos FA Cup – Ojediran made 22 appearances, scoring 11 goals and providing 4 assists.
”For his age, he’s got the right hunger and fire in his belly; he wants to compete, and that for us is what we want. He’ll get better here,” Sporting Lagos head coach Jeffery Buter said about Ojediran’s promotion.
”Fuhad has developed the desire and aggression to thrive in senior football. He’s earned this next step. I’m really happy for him,” added Academy head coach Uwejamomere Eboboritse, who is also the head coach of Nigeria’s U17 side.
Ojediran, who turned 18 last month, will hope to get his chance in the upcoming NPFL season that kicks off on August 28th.
