Plateau Peacocks head coach, Yusuf Abdulkadir has appealed to President Muhammadu Buhari, Federal Government and Presidential Task Force (PTF) on COVID-19 to lift the total ban on sports.

Abdulkadir told www.aclsports.com lifting the ban on sports will reduce the social vices currently recorded in the country.

He said, “I am appealing to President Muhammadu Buhari, the Federal Government of Nigeria and the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19 to lift the ban on sports in the country.

“We are all aware that non contact sports are free to go on with their activities but there is need to open all the sports to keep youths off the street and reduce the social vices recorded in the country”.

The National U18 girls coach disclosed that life without sports is terrible and sickening.

He said, “Staying without active competitions for 8 months is terrible but I had to keep my players fit during the lockdown and we observed social distancing during training.

Abdulkadir said losing the 2019 Prudent Energy Handball League title was heartbreaking for him and his players.

He told www.aclsports.com that his target is to claim the title this season.

He said, “Life is all about ups and downs, you win some and you lose some. I was confident entering into last season’s Premier League because my players were fit but we ran out of luck in the end.

“This time around, my target is to win the 2020 Prudent Energy Handball League title if the league eventually holds”.
