Atlanta Dream have signed Nigeria forward and captain Amy Okonkwo to a developmental contract, www.aclsports.com reports.

The Dream announced the signing on Wednesday, adding the Nigerian international to their roster following her recent training camp spell with the Dallas Wings ahead of the 2026 season.

Okonkwo featured in eight games for Dallas during the 2025 WNBA season, averaging 11.0 points, 3.1 rebounds and 1.4 steals per outing while shooting more than 60 per cent from the field. Her standout display came against Phoenix on 11 September 2025, when she came off the bench to score a season-high 20 points.

She also posted 14 points against the Connecticut Sun and added 11 points alongside a career-high six rebounds versus the Atlanta Dream, as she became the first undrafted player since 2000 to average at least 10 points while shooting 60 per cent or better through her first two WNBA appearances.

Okonkwo has continued to shine for Nigeria, helping D’Tigress to back-to-back FIBA Women’s AfroBasket titles in 2023 and 2025 while also winning Most Valuable Player honours in both tournaments.

Atlanta Dream’s next WNBA fixture sees them host the Las Vegas Aces on Sunday, May 17.
