Nigeria U17 women’s national team, the Flamingos, beat Ghana 4-2 to claim their second straight win at the 2026 WAFU-B U17 Girls Cup on Saturday, www.aclsports.com reports.
The Flamingos scored twice in each half, overcoming a second-half red card and two goals from the Black Maidens at Lycée Scientifique, Yamoussoukro.
Coach Hakeem Busari maintained the same starting XI from their victory over Niger, with Oluwakemi Adegbuyi opening the scoring in the 33rd minute. A ball over the top found the forward, whose excellent first touch took her past her marker before she curled a fine effort into the top-right corner.
Nigeria doubled their lead in the second minute of added time when captain Harmony Chidi pounced on a failed clearance to unleash a powerful strike for her second goal of the tournament.
The Flamingos were reduced to 10 players in the 59th minute after Elizabeth Adesuyi was shown a straight red card for bringing down a Ghanaian attacker as the last defender. Ghana captain Seidatu Wahab pulled one back three minutes later with a well-struck free-kick.
Despite being a player down, Nigeria restored their two-goal cushion in the 70th minute as Mary Dunstan beat her defender, rounded the goalkeeper and finished brilliantly to make it 3-1.
Chidi had a second goal ruled out for offside in the 73rd minute before Kaosarat Akanji extended Nigeria’s lead from a direct free-kick in the 87th. Gloria A. Ameaa pulled another goal back for Ghana in the 90th minute, but Nigeria held on.
The victory leaves the Flamingos top of the table with six points from two matches. Elsewhere, Togo defeated Niger 4-2, while Burkina Faso edged hosts Côte d’Ivoire 1-0.
