Barau FC of Kano continued their fine start to the 2026/27 NPFL season after forcing hosts Ikorodu City to a goalless draw in Lagos on Saturday, www.aclsports.com reports.
The Maliya Boys entered today’s fixture at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena with two wins and a draw in their opening three matches, and they did just enough to leave Lagos with another point on the road.
It was not a fixture without goalscoring opportunities, as Farouk Salami (Ikorodu City), Joseph Atule (Barau FC), Kumaga Suur (Barau FC), and Michael Ujunwa (Ikorodu City) missed the mark at different times during the encounter.
The two teams also struck the woodwork multiple times, as Ikorodu City goalkeeper Michael Atata produced a stunning save to keep the scoreline intact. In the end, it finished goalless with Ikorodu City keeping their first clean sheet of the season.
In Kano, Ranchers Bees continued their home run with another win over Bendel Insurance at the Sani Abacha Stadium. Striker Chiedozie Jude Okorie, who scored the Bees’ first league goal of the season, opened the scoring in the 49th minute upon his return from suspension. Just six minutes after the hour mark, Lekan Gabriel made it 1-1 before star man Rabiu Zulkifilu scored the winner 11 minutes from time to steer the Bees to another win at home.
In the other game played on Saturday, Katsina edged Niger Tornadoes 1-0 in Katsina. Abdulrahman Garba’s 21st-minute strike decided the contest.
More match day four matches will be played on Sunday, including the Oriental derby between Kun Khalifat and Rangers, as well as the contest between Plateau United and Shooting Stars in Jos.
