The CAF Women’s Champions League WAFU-B qualifiers will crown a champion on Friday, September 5, 2025, as ASEC Mimosas of Ivory Coast face Nigeria’s Bayelsa Queens at the Charles Konan Banny Stadium, Yamoussoukro.

Beyond regional bragging rights, the winner will secure a place at this year’s CAF Women’s Champions League.

Bayelsa Queens, winners in 2022, have been unbeaten throughout the tournament. They opened with a 2–1 win over Police Ladies, eased past ASKO FC of Togo 3–0, and crushed Sam Nelly 4–1 to top their group. In the semifinals, they showed grit to come from behind and beat USFA 2–1. Key players such as Shakirat Moshood, Janet Akekoromowei, and Emem Essien have been central to their success, combining leadership, goals, and energy. The Nigerian champions are targeting a second WAFU-B crown and another return to the Champions League, where they finished third in 2022.

ASEC Mimosas, meanwhile, are enjoying a historic breakthrough. In their debut appearance, they have thrilled home fans with dynamic football and clinical finishing. They edged AS GNN of Niger 2–1 in their opener, brushed aside USFA 3–0, and then powered past Police Ladies 4–1 in the semifinals.

Leading their charge has been forward Ami Prisca Diallo, whose goals and attacking flair have lit up the competition. With her influence, ASEC have become the first Ivorian club to reach this stage, and they are determined to crown their run with silverware.

This is the first WAFU-B final between ASEC and Bayelsa Queens, but it carries the weight of a Nigeria–Ivory Coast clash, a rivalry that has historically delivered intensity. Nigerian clubs have dominated the region since the CAF Women’s Champions League qualifiers began, yet ASEC’s rise shows the balance of power may be shifting.

With Bayelsa’s experience and form against ASEC’s momentum and home support, the stage is set for a dramatic showdown in Yamoussoukro. One team will extend Nigeria’s dominance; the other could usher in a new Ivorian era. Either way, Friday’s final promises fireworks.
