Ogun State contingent on Wednesday escaped a robbery attack at Ilesha, Osun state and survived a car explosion in Obajana, western region of Kogi State, www.aclsports.com can exclusively report.

Team Ogun departed the state capital, Abeokuta around 5pm on Wednesday after the failure of a contractor to deliver the contingent kit on schedule.

A senior official, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said some of the athletes and coaches arrived at midnight while others got to the venue of the games by 5am.

The source disclosed that the state lost cash and kits to the fire accident in Obajana.

The source said, “The reason why we left Ogun late was because the person who ought to give us our kit delivered  very late. The team left the state around 5pm and on our way to the National Sports Festival, we escaped a robbery incident at Ilesha.

“After escaping the attack, one of the buses conveying some officials was gutted by fire around Obajana as we lost thousands of naira, some of the athletes’ kits and other valuable properties. We thank God that no life was lost” the source continued.

“The officials will not put pressure on the athletes because some of them are already fatigued. I wish them the very best as some of them participate in the Table Tennis and Para Powerlifting event today (Friday)”.
