Lobi Stars of Makurdi returned to the top of the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) table on Sunday after a 2-1 win over Nasarawa United at the Aper Aku Stadium.

Chigozie Obasi and Samad Kadiri scored both goals for Gbenga Ogunbote’s side who now go clear at the top after Plateau United were held 0-0 by MFM FC at the Agege Township Stadium in Lagos.

Rivers United remain in third after they were held 0-0 by Wikki Tourists in Port Harcourt while Ndifreke Effiong scored twice as Akwa United came from behind to beat Heartland 3-1 in Uyo.

Okon Otop who left Warri Wolves two weeks ago to join Abia Warriors punished his former side in Umuahia as he scored a 90th minute goal to give Warriors a 1-0 win on Sunday.
