Borussia Dortmund striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang will play a part in his side’s Uefa Champions League game with Tottenham Hotspurs on Tuesday after serving out a one-match suspension imposed by his club.

The Gabon international was punished for ‘disciplinary reasons’, according to the BVB management, and did not feature in the team’s 2-1 away defeat to Stuttgart on Friday.

Details of his situation began to emerge in Germany, with the local media revealing he had long been in the bad books of Die Borussen for his lateness to training and unauthorised trips abroad.

However, a video the 29-year-old shot with a Red Bull football freestyler at Dortmund’s training ground was the drop that spilled the glass.

The exercise, which Aubameyang posted on his Instagram account, was not unauthorised by the club, according to officials, and Red Bull are known sponsors of BVB’s rivals Leipzig.

The 2015 African Footballer of the Year said he did not understand why he was suspended.

Aubameyang has scored 10 goals in 11 games this season, but his side are facing a poor run of form with one win claimed from their last eight matches.

With a slim chance of progressing in the Champions League, coach Peter Bosz is hoping to avoid a home defeat against Spurs to boost the team’s morale ahead of their Saturday’s clash with Schalke 04 in Bundesliga.
