Shooting Stars Sports Club of Ibadan (3SC) will host newly promoted Inter Lagos in the 2026/27 NPFL season opener, www.aclsports.com reports.
The match was confirmed as the opening fixture of the new season by the chairman of the league, Otunba Gbenga Elegbeleye, at the Annual General Meeting and draws ceremony of the league held in Ibadan on Friday.
The Oluyole Warriors, who finished third on the log at the end of the 2025/26 season to secure a place on the continent for the first time in 27 years, will face the league debutants at the Lekan Salami Stadium on Friday, August 28th, 2026.
In the other match day one fixtures confirmed by the league body, defending champions Rangers International will begin their title defence with a date with Katsina United in Enugu, while last season’s runners-up Rivers United will also host Plateau United in Port-Harcourt.
Other fixtures on the opening weekend will see Kwara United and Kano Pillars go head-to-head, while Doma United and Sporting Lagos will face off in the battle of promoted clubs at the Pantami Stadium in Gombe. Bendel Insurance will play host to Warri Wolves in the South-South derby on the opening match day of the season.
Apart from the Shooting Stars’ game, the remaining nine matches will be played on Sunday, August 30th.
