Nigeria U17 women’s national team, the Flamingos, eased past Guinea 5-0 in the first leg of their 2026 FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup second-round qualifier at the Stade Félix-Houphouët-Boigny in Abidjan on Saturday, www.aclsports.com reports.

A first-half hat-trick from captain Harmony Chidi alongside goals from Oluwakemi Adegbuyi and Mary Dunstan handed the Flamingos a commanding advantage ahead of the return fixture in Nigeria.

Nigeria made a perfect start to the encounter, opening the scoring with the first attack of the game when Harmony Chidi struck inside the opening minute to give the visitors the lead.

The Flamingos continued to dominate possession and attacking play in the early stages, and Chidi doubled the advantage in the 13th minute with a superb strike from outside the penalty area to complete her brace inside the opening quarter of an hour.

Coach Akeem Busari’s side maintained their attacking intensity throughout the first half and added a third goal in the 37th minute through Oluwakemi Adegbuyi, who finished calmly after sustained pressure from Nigeria.

Just three minutes later, Chidi completed her hat-trick and scored Nigeria’s fourth goal of the evening, capping a dominant first-half performance as the Flamingos went into the break with a comfortable 4-0 lead.

Nigeria resumed the second half in similar fashion and extended their advantage further in the 56th minute when Mary Dunstan finished well to make it 5-0.

Guinea struggled to cope with Nigeria’s attacking movement and intensity throughout the match, while the Flamingos remained solid defensively and controlled proceedings to secure a dominant first-leg victory.

The second leg is scheduled for 30 May at the Remo Stars Stadium in Ikenne, with Nigeria holding a commanding advantage as they aim to progress to the next round of the qualifiers.
